Recovered by Confronting the Pain

Jul 14, 2020

Meet “Calla Lily Summer” (Anonymous). In this recovery story, our bloomer finds herself planted in a new town, without friends, without her boyfriend and without support from her mother who’s on her own recovery journey from opioid addiction. To grow, Calla Lily confronted the pain and rooted herself in a treatment path that was nurtured by the support of friends.

Young Women’s Empowerment Foundation (YWE) is hosting their 2nd Annual My Sisters’ Keeper, an educational event discussing sexual assault, domestic violence, conflict resolution, college application workshop, interview do’s and dont’s, and tons of interaction and fun! There will be light refreshments and lunch! This is a free event! In the direction of women’s empowerment, YWE believes in educating, informing, and empowering young women in learning how to identify sexual assault and domestic violence, how to recognize the signs when you or a friend (sister) is a victim of sexual assault and/or domestic violence, and how to seek help and resources within the community. Due to the sensitivity of what will be discussed, only high school young women are eligible to attend – those beginning 9th grade in the upcoming school year can attend as well!
